The Effect of Manipulation with Different Types of Gloves on Various Mechanical properties and Setting Time of Putty-Type Silicone Impression Materials

Aim: To evaluate the effects of handling with different type gloves on setting time, compressive and tensile strength putty-type silicone impression materials. Methodology: The study was conducted at COMSATS Lahore approved by IRB FMH College Medicine Dentistry. In this in-vitro three (Polythene, Latex Vinyl) two brands each addition (Flexceed Elite P&P) condensation (Zetaplus Cavex) materials were used. These divided into four groups (A, B, C D). Each group subdivided sub-groups based used for manipulation. Sixty samples(n=20) (Elite P&PA, Flexceed B) silicones Cavex D) prepared analyzed to samples A1, B1, C1, D1 (Control), A2, B2. C2, D2 (Polythene gloves), A3, B3, C3,D3 (Vinyl gloves) A4, B4, C4, D4(Latex) respectively. Results: There a significant effect(p<0.5) time P &P when mixed latex gloves(A4) polythene(B2) gloves(B4) (p<0.5) effect Zetaplus vinyl(C3) gloves(C4). polythene(D2), vinyl(D3) gloves(D4). both brand polythene, vinyl as compared control group. except that polythene don’t affect one silicon B2(Flexceed) Practical implications: Dental are widely fabricate indirect restorations. Gloves essential cross infection safety dentist patients cannot be avoided manipulation these Worldwide, dentists use types manipulate composition properties silicones, ultimately, it can compromise clinical outcome too.
